Shakira Surprises Fans With Impromptu Performance At Times Square

Shakira rocked Times Square with a surprise concert for 40,000 fans Tuesday evening.

The international star and three-time Grammy winner announced the pop-up performance on her social media account just hours before she took the TSX Stage by storm, according to Billboard. She began her high-energy performance at 7:30 pm, by treating fans to a fully choreographed performance of her classic hit, “Hips Don’t Lie,” as fans screamed excitedly. Shakira danced, jumped up and down, and gyrated with some of her most sultry, seductive moves as unsuspecting people gathered around the streets of Manhattan to catch a glimpse on the huge electronic billboard.

Her fans didn’t disappoint. The crowd was packed with people who caught wind of the last-minute performance, which was designed to celebrate her first LP in seven years. “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran was released last Friday, and has already gone three-times Platinum, according to The New York Post. The Colombian star wore tight black pants and a black tank top with silver embellishments while entertaining on stage. At one point during her performance, she donned a pair of dark sunglasses as she belted out some of her most popular tunes.

Shakira performed “TQM,” “Cómo Dónde y Cuándo,” “Te Felicito,” and “Puntería,” alongside some talented backup dancers that were also wearing all-black during the show.

She concluded the concert with her hit, “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” as fans urged her to stay and play on.
