On Wednesday, President Barack Obama signed a $1.25 billion check to black farmers who have allegedly been victims of past wrongdoings by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The settlement apparently solves a string of so-called unfair loan policies that occurred over 20 years ago. (more)
As the debate over whether or not to extend all or part of the Bush-era tax cuts comes to an end and a vote is taken, left-wing media outlets along with Obama and leading Democrats are calling for a unanimous, hand-holding rendition of kumbaya. Ironically, this newfound attitude of benevolent affection comes about a month after the president referred to Republicans as “the enemy” and said that his opponents should sit in the back seat. Since the midterm elections, there has been much debate centered on whether or not the newly elected GOP Congress should focus solely on economic issues or push forward with an agenda that will make social conservatives giddy with excitement. (more)
In a perfect world, free speech would be reserved for the federal government and elitists who are exempt from regulatory mandates, according to West Virginia Senator Jay Rockefeller. In the days and hours leading up to last week’s midterm elections, political leaders from both parties earnestly debated the extent to which Republicans and Democrats would be able to work together in the new Congress. However, many could argue the industry had lost its so-called objective news coverage decades prior. (more)
When news first broke that The Daily Caller had obtained documents and other such evidence asserting that a left-wing journalist listserv had plotted to cover up controversial stories revolving around then candidate Barack Obama’s pastor, as well conspire to destroy the lives of anyone who opposes their agenda, most Americans probably shrugged it off realizing this is simply old news. The latest hearsay circling the politico rumor mill is that former Alaska governor Sarah Palin could be the perfect fit as the next chairwoman of the Republican Party. She does have an ability to raise money, as well as sellout venues. Plus she is the author of a nationally known bestselling book and has an enormous loyal following, particularly among Tea Party faithful. However, are those kinds of credentials enough to qualify her to succeed Michael Steele? (more)
In case you haven’t read it, Washington Post associate editor and columnist Eugene Robinson wrote a column on United States Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) who recently passed away at the age of 92. (more)
