Beyonce to direct and star in autobiographical documentary

In Hollywood, Beyonce Knowles is a jack of all trades. She has had a successful music career first as part of Destiny's Child then as a solo artist. She's starred in feature films such as "Austin Powers in Goldmember" and "Dream Girls." She's also been a producer.  Soon, she will add director to her list of accomplishments.

‘The Hobbit’ to be three films instead of two

On Monday, "Hobbit" director Peter Jackson announced on his Facebook page that "The Lord of the Rings" prequel would be split into three films instead of two. There had been speculation of a third film at Comic-Con last month, when Jackson teased fans with the idea. Entertainment Weekly reports that after weeks of discussing logistics with Warner Bros., Jackson finally made the announcement.

Train fire kills 47 in India

In the wee hours of Monday morning a fire swept through an overnight train traveling from New Delhi in northern India to the southeastern city of Chennai, killing at least 47 people and leaving 28 others charred.

Madonna booed and called ‘slut’ by angry fans in Paris

On Thursday angry fans booed Madonna at an intimate gig at the Olympia Theatre in Paris. The show, a last minute addition to her tour, was much shorter than expected. Madonna performed an eight-song set concluding with a cover of Serge Gainsbourg's "Je T'aime...Mon Non Plus." The show concluded approximately 45 minutes after Madonna walked on stage.

Thursday, the first trailer for the Tom Twyker ("Run Lola Run") and Lana and Andy Wachovski ("The Matrix") film adaptation of David Mitchell's novel "Cloud Atlas" surfaced online. The nearly six-minute trailer was leaked online before Warner Bros. had intended to release it.

North Koreans infuriated by display of South Korean flag at soccer match

At the North Korea vs. Columbia women's soccer match on Wednesday in Glasgow, Scotland, the players from North Korea refused to take the field, delaying the game by 65 minutes, because The London Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games displayed the South Korean flag next to the photos of the players on the Hampden Park stadium big screen.

Greece expels Olympian for controversial tweets

On Wednesday, Greek triple jumper Voula Papachristou was expelled from the Olympic team after a series of tweets mocking African immigrants and endorsing Golden Dawn, a far right party political party.

Man charged with dismembering Detroit couple

Roger Bowling, 39, has been charged with two counts of first degree murder after the dismembered bodies of Chris Hall, 42, and Hall's fiancee, Danielle Greenway, 32, were found in the Detroit River last Tuesday.
