Former vice president and 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden said congressional Democrats may have no choice but to impeach President Donald Trump if he interferes in ongoing investigations.
“If, in fact, [those in the Trump administration] block the investigation, they have no alternative but to go to the only other constitutional resort they have, [which] is impeachment,” Biden said in an interview on ABC’s “Good Morning America” Tuesday.
Joe Biden tells @GMA Congress is investigating elements “left undone” by special counsel Mueller.

Biden also told GMA host Robin Roberts that while impeachment is a possibility, his focus is on unseating Trump in 2020. (RELATED: Trump: What The Hell Happened To Joe Biden?)
“My job, in the meantime, is to make sure he’s not back as President of the United States of America,” he said.
Trump has said that his administration is “fighting all the subpoenas,” claiming that Democrats in Congress are incapable of acting as impartial investigators. Trump is suing House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings after Cummings subpoenaed his financial records.
Trump and Attorney General William Barr have also resisted attempts by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler to subpoena the full, special counsel Robert Mueller’s unredacted report.
Biden officially launched his campaign last week after months of speculation. The former vice president is widely considered to be the front-runner for the Democratic nomination largely due to his name recognition and connection to President Barack Obama, who remains popular in the Democratic party.
Biden has called this election “a battle for the soul of this nation,” and has warned of dire consequences should Trump be re-elected.
“If we give Donald Trump eight years in the White House he will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation. And I cannot stand by and watch that happen,” Biden said last week.
