Effie, the pseudonymous woman who launched the sexual misconduct claims against actor Armie Hammer, alleges that Hammer’s estranged wife played a huge role in exposing him, according to a new report.
Effie says Elizabeth Chambers, who was married to Hammer for 10 years before the two separated in 2020, was the catalyst in exposing his sexual exploits, according to Page Six. Effie claims that Chambers pressured Hammer’s alleged victims to reveal their stories in an effort to bolster her chances of winning custody of their two children.
Once Hammer was exposed, however, Effie claims Chambers changed her tune, leaving her feeling exploited.

Chambers allegedly worked to take Hammer down by pressuring Effie to press charges. Chambers reportedly told Effie that her assistance in exposing Hammer was needed to protect her children. “I really need custody of my precious children,” Chambers allegedly said at one point. “Do you think you could make a declaration this week? It will all be private,” Chambers said, according to Page Six. “I don’t want to pressure you, but your insight is much more in depth than the others we have.”
Chambers then went on to tell Effie she needed Hammer removed from the Cayman Islands where he was hiding when the scandal broke, and stated that he was a “risk” to their children, Page Six reported.
This added pressure allegedly factored in to Effie’s decision to come forward with her claims against the disgraced actor.
Chambers then reportedly continued to apply pressure.
“He hasn’t even seen the kids, fucking everyone who walks and taking a new blonde out on his dads [sic] boat,” Chambers allegedly wrote. “I forced him to come here via court order to try to be a father and now he’s a risk to them. He needs to go,” she said, according to Page Six.
“Again, I don’t want to push you, but with your declaration, we can get him locked up for the evaluation,” Chambers allegedly wrote. She reportedly went on to describe how devious Hammer was. “I’m asking for the eval and scans. I don’t trust he won’t trick a therapist,” she said, according to Page Six. Effie claims to have repeatedly told Chambers she was scared of Hammer, but says Chambers continued to apply pressure.
“We have one chance to stop this behavior and prevent other women and girl [sic] from being hurt and even worse,” Chambers allegedly wrote.
Effie also alleges that once Hammer’s sexual exploits and abusive behavior was exposed, Chambers changed her stance. Chambers began indicating that the two were co-parenting well in spite of being separated, and that Hammer was in therapy getting the help he needed and is now “healing,” according to People. In July 2022, a source told Variety that Hammer was living in the Cayman Islands to be near Chambers and their children while working as a timeshare salesman.
Effie claims that Chambers’ sole focus was gaining custody and accuses Chambers of using her trauma for financial gain and to secure her own lifestyle, according to Page Six.
Armie Hammer was accused of brutally violating and raping several women, and many of his alleged victims claim he was emotionally and sexually abusive. No formal charges have been filed against the disgraced actor, according to My Imperfect Life.
