Tampa Mayor Jane Castor invited Taylor Swift to take the key to the city and be the mayor for the day ahead of her visit to the area for The Eras Tour.

Castor extended the offer to the famous singer in a video message posted to social media Monday. “We know Glendale changed its name, Arlington made a street sign, and Vegas illuminated their Gateway Arches. But here in Tampa we’ve got a reputation to uphold… and we want to go BIGGER,” Castor said in a video posted by the City of Tampa.

The video was posted to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and a variety of other platforms, and showed Castor holding a box with the oversized key presented to the camera. Fans were encouraged to share the post all over social media and tag the singer in an effort to attract her attention to their offer.

“#TAMPA are you ready for it? We’ve got a reputation to uphold‼️ Tag @taylorswift if you agree “Mayor Swift” has a nice ring to it. 😉” was written as the caption to the post.

“In addition to presenting Taylor Swift with a key to the City and inviting her to be Tampa’s mayor for a day, the City of Tampa will be lighting Old City Hall, the @tampariverwalk, and downtown bridges red in honor of the Eras Tour. ❤️”

Castor then gave Swift a nod by referencing her newly re-recorded albums “Taylor’s Version” albums. (RELATED: Taylor Swift Dominates At The iHeart Radio Awards)

“Mayor Swift has a nice ring to it,” Castor said. “We can’t wait to welcome you and your fans to Tampa (Taylor’s version),” she said.
