“The View” co-hosts cheered after Fox News announced Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson’s departure on Monday.
Fox News announced Monday that Carlson is out at the network and will not receive a farewell episode. The co-hosts cheered the news.
“Wave!” co-host Whoopi Goldberg said in celebration. Goldberg is just 14 months off a suspension for saying the Holocaust was not about race.
“Can I ask the audience if they will help me do something?” co-host Ana Navarro said.
Navarro, who formerly worked for Jeb!, began singing the “Dave Clark Five” song, “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye,” leading the audience in a singalong.
“I would think no one likes to celebrate the demise of someone’s career, but he is responsible for the degradation of our democracy in this country,” co-host Sunny Hostin said. “And I just think, as a faithful person, look at God. Look at God.” Hostin drew rebuke late last year for referring to Republican women as “roaches.” (RELATED: Popular Fox News Host Leaving Network)
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin accused Carlson of being a Russian propagandist, saying his departure is a “good day for the Ukrainian people.” Carlson has repeatedly denounced Putin and his actions in Ukraine on his show. Farah-Griffin was a vocal advocate for claims the 2020 election was stolen until right around the time she started interviewing with CNN.
CNN also fired anchor Don Lemon abruptly on Monday, leaving Lemon “stunned.”
“After 17 years at CNN I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly,” Lemon said. “At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network. It is clear that there are some larger issues at play. With that said, I want to thank my colleagues and the many teams I have worked with for an incredible run. They are the most talented journalists in the business, and I wish them all the best.”
