‘I’m A Whole 90 Pounds’: Video Shows Angry And Determined Mother Holding Down Suspect Trying To Flee Cops

Video captured the moment that an angry and determined Texas mother held down a suspect trying to flee police Sunday, KPRC reported.

April Aguirre was returning from a mechanic’s shop, where she just dropped $2,200 in repairs on the car she bought for her college-bound son, when a motorcyclist slammed into the back end of it, according to KPRC. According to an arrest warrant, 38-year-old Thomas Mosnes, was allegedly trying to outrun police and speeding through an intersection when he “split between the vehicles and disregarded the red light,” causing the accident, KPRC reported. “It’s a big loss for us, because we’re not made out of money,” April told KPRC.

“I was shocked, I started looking around,” she said. “I saw police sirens, and then I saw him trying to run and I said, ‘Oh no, no. You’re not going nowhere.’ He was ready to take off. I don’t know how far he would have gotten, but he was ready to take off.”

Video shot by April’s daughter, shows the mom grappling with Mosnes on the ground as an officer rushes in and tries to cuff him.

“I’m a whole 90 pounds. I can’t do much,” Aguirre told KPRC. “I could twist an arm or two, but I can’t really hold him down for that long.”

April can be seen in the video putting her knee into the back of Mosnes’ neck to subdue him while the officer, assisted by another man, cuffs the suspect.

April then stands up and casually readjusts her pants and blouse before fixing her hair.

April told KPRC she doesn’t regret jumping in to help.

“I think that it was kind of a dangerous decision, but it was just a spark of the moment,” she said, adding, “I hold my kids accountable, and I was treating him like a child, like you’re not going nowhere mister.”

Mosnes was arrested and charged with fleeing and eluding police, KPRC reported.
