The cast and crew of Taylor Sheridan’s flagship Paramount+ series “Yellowstone” said Monday that there was a “perfect” ending in store for us in November.
It turns out that Sheridan knew his ending to “Yellowstone” on the first day they filmed the pilot episode, according to Entertainment Weekly. He even told one of his stars, Kelly Reilly, who plays the inspiring Beth Dutton, how he intends to wrap up the show. The story follows the Dutton family as they fight foe and kin to save the Yellowstone ranch, settled by their ancestors (played by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill) in “1883.”
“It was always going to be five seasons in [Sheridan’s] head, but because the show became so successful, the network and everyone wanted more,” Reilly told the outlet. “So, in a way, fate took it and we ended this part of ‘Yellowstone’ in a way that he always envisioned it to end.”

“We film most of the show in Montana, but there’s a part of the show that’s set in Texas,” she continued. “We start the show where Rip’s gone to Texas and Beth is miserable without him,” Rip is played by Cole Hauser, “Within 24 hours, she’s like, ‘When are you coming back?’ She doesn’t have much patience or understanding that he has to go and do cowboying so she might take a trip down to Texas to see him.”
At the same time, Beth has to deal with her bitchy brother Jamie, who is “the most raw he’s ever been and the most vulnerable,” says the actor who plays him, Wes Bentley. “He’s the angriest he’s ever been.” They concluded the last slate of episodes by declaring war, and Beth “keeps her promise,” apparently. But it’s not all bad between the Dutton siblings. (RELATED: ‘Yellowstone’ Execs Hated Beth Dutton. We Bet We Know Why)
Kayce Dutton, played by Luke Grimes, finally has a few scenes with Reilly. “You do get to see a lot more interaction between Kayce and Beth,” Grimes told EW. “That was really fun because Kelly and I had talked over the years about how we wish we’d had more stuff together because we’re never really in the same room, if you think about it. It was great working with Kelly and being around Beth’s energy a little bit.”
Don’t get excited, though; these aren’t spoilers. “If you think you know what’s going to happen, Taylor will always give you a surprise that you didn’t see coming,” says every cast member. (RELATED: Stars Have Huge Predictions For How ‘Yellowstone’ Will Conclude)
“I couldn’t be happier. I think it’s a perfect ending for the show for every character. It’s just a testament to what a good writer Taylor is, and it’s a very, very profound, beautiful ending. I can’t wait to sit down and watch it one day,” Grimes added.
“Yellowstone” returns Sunday, Nov. 10 to Paramount.
