Hugh Hewitt warned that America needs to “avoid Hillary Clinton,” who would take America “backwards to the future, not forward to the future with a young, dynamic, Republican.”

Hewitt, host of “The Hugh Hewitt Show” and panelist for the CNN Republican debates — appearing on CNN’s “New Day” Friday — explained the new House leadership is all a “plus” because the “changing of the guard” in House leadership was led by a “generational change.” (RELATED: [crscore]Paul Ryan[/crscore] Elected Speaker Of The House)

Paul Ryan is 45. There’s a generational change taking place,” Hewitt explained. “And you’ve got [crscore]Cathy McMorris Rodgers[/crscore] who is number four in the House Conference, she’s 46. [crscore]Kevin McCarthy[/crscore] is 50. [crscore]Elise Stefanik[/crscore] is the youngest member of Congress, she’s 31. Grant Starrett is running in Tennessee against an incumbent. He’s 27.”

There is a changing of the guard on the Republican side. Now I’m a Republican, so people can correct for the ‘lie of the green.’ We’ve got the young talent.”

The Democrats are “old, old, old in many places where you need to be young, young, young. [crscore]Nancy Pelosi[/crscore] is 75 versus Paul Ryan who is 45,” explained Hewitt. “I tell you, that frames perfectly for the conservative movement going forward given the opportunity.”

Hewitt explained that many Republicans have been “begging Paul Ryan to step up. For the last five years, they wanted him to be Speaker. He finally agreed to do it.”

“And only nine people voted against him,” explained Hewitt. “Those nine people, good people I’m sure but they’re marginalized. He’s got 235 Republicans. He’s got a platform. He’s got tremendous skills and communication. It’s a great era for the Republicans that open up. And you look in the Senate, [crscore]Tom Cotton[/crscore] who is 37, [crscore]Cory Gardner[/crscore] who is 41. It’s a great era for the Republicans if we can get just get through the last 15 months of this disaster and avoid Hillary Clinton, at age 70, becoming… the first female president by taking us backwards to the future, not forward to the future with a young, dynamic, Republican.”
