A spokeswoman for the Trump campaign blasted Speaker of the House [crscore]Paul Ryan[/crscore] Friday morning for not endorsing Trump, saying Ryan is unfit to be speaker if he can’t help unite the party.

Katrina Pierson was being interviewed by CNN’s John Berman when the host brought up Ryan’s statement that he was “not ready” to endorse Trump for president.

“If the Republican Speaker of the House does not come around to supporting the Republican nominee, do you think that Paul Ryan is still fit to be speaker?” Berman asked.

“No, because this is about the party,” Pierson replied. She then brought up the way conservatives were ordered to back previous presidential nominees [crscore]John McCain[/crscore] and Mitt Romney even though many found them insufficiently conservative. “We were told Mitt Romney was a conservative, and he was pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, pro-adoption, gave us Obamacare,” she said. “We were told to hold our noses and vote for the sake of the party. These same people are now telling us that because their guy didn’t win, they want to hurt the party.” (RELATED: Romney Won’t Back Trump)

“If you can’t hold yourself to the standard that you’re holding everyone else, the problem is with you,” she added.
