In the weeks leading up to the suspension of his presidential campaign, [crscore]Ted Cruz[/crscore] kept pushing the narrative that neither he nor Donald Trump would win the 1,237 delegates needed to earn the Republican nomination.
Back on April 20, the Texas senator stated in an interview with CNN that “the math is virtually impossible for Donald Trump.”
“Donald Trump is not getting to 1,237. No one is getting to 1,237.”
“The reason Donald Turmp is so scared,” he added, “is the last three weeks — in particular the win in Wisconsin — put the nail in the coffin and made clear Donald doesn’t get to 1,237. He knows that.”
Cruz finished by explaining that “this race is headed to Cleveland. It’s headed to a contested convention.”
Turns out, he was wrong. (RELATED: Trump Has Crossed Delegate Threshold To Win Republican Nomination)
