House Majority Whip Steve Scalise slammed the Republican candidate for Pennsylvania governor after he pledged to “stomp all over” the face of his Democratic opponent.

GOP candidate Scott Wagner posted a video on Facebook warning Democratic Gov. Tom Wolf: “between now and November 6th you’d better put a catcher’s mask on your face, because I’m going to stomp all over your face with golf spikes.”

Scalise, who narrowly survived a politically-motivated mass assassination attempt in June 2017, slammed Wagner for his comments.

“These comments are totally unacceptable. As I’ve said many times before, there is absolutely no place in our politics for this kind of rhetoric,” Scalise wrote on Twitter.

Scalise has been consistent in calling out violent rhetoric from both sides of the political aisle. (RELATED: GOP Baseball Shooter Was ‘Fueled By Rage Against Republican Legislators’)

The Louisiana congressman in September warned that “some on the left” are “inciting” political violence, and he demanded Democrats do a better job of denouncing inflammatory rhetoric from their political allies.
