Famous International Singer Carlos Marin Dies At Age 53

Carlos Marin, the famous 53-year-old singer of the international singing group Il Divo, passed away Sunday in England.

The Spanish singer was admitted to intensive care in a hospital in Manchester on Dec. 8. He was reportedly put in a medically induced coma and intubated, according to Spanish TV E1.

While the cause of death remains unconfirmed, allegedly the singer had been diagnosed with COVID-19, according to BBC.

“He will be missed by his friends, family and fans. There will never be another voice or spirit like Carlos,” Il Divo stated on their Twitter account.

“For 17 years the four of us have been on this incredible journey of Il Divo together, and we will miss our dear friend. We hope and pray that his beautiful soul will rest in peace. With Love — David, Sebastien and Urs,” the statement concluded.

The group was discovered by the British superstar Simon Cowell in 2003, according to the BBC.

“I am devastated Carlos Marin has passed away. He loved life. He loved performing and always had so much appreciation towards the fans who supported the group from day 1,” Cowell wrote on Twitter.

Marín was born Oct. 13, 1968, in Rüsselsheim, Germany. He released his first album at the age of 8, and soon moved to Madrid, according to a New York Times report.

He joined Il Divo in 2003, after which the group known for their romantic songs gained worldwide popularity and sold millions of albums, according to the outlet.
