Former “disinformation czar” Nina Jankowicz complained that the Biden administration failed to follow her advice to address claims made about the since-dissolved Disinformation Governance Board during a Sunday CNN appearance.

“I felt like the government had just rolled over, to the critics, who had completely spun this narrative out of control based on absolutely nothing in reality and the fact that they weren’t able to defend me, the person that they had chosen, the experts that they had chosen to lead this board and safeguard this work,” Jankowicz told “Reliable Sources” host Brian Stelter.

Jankowicz, who describes herself as an “internationally-recognized expert on disinformation and democratization” on her website, resigned from the board in May following the Department of Homeland Security “pausing” the board’s operations amid claims she herself spread disinformation. She was heavily criticized by many commentators and politicians for her perceived hypocrisy, as well as the nature of her role. “There was a disproportionate focus on me, given my level of power within the department,” Jankowicz said. “I was not allowed to speak on my own behalf, and frankly, all the communications decisions that were being made about how to talk about the board were made above my pay grade, and above my level of decision-making.”

“I was the executive director but there were a lot of people that were involved that didn’t take advice frankly that I had given them,” Jankowicz said.

Jankowicz claimed the Steele dossier was funded by Republicans in 2017 and said that Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop was a “Trump campaign product” during the 2020 campaign. She also raised concerns about Elon Musk’s attempt to purchase Twitter in an April interview with NPR.

The Department of Homeland Security and Jankowicz did not immediately respond to requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
