REPORT: Former ‘Saturday Night Live’ Star Chris Kattan Undergoes Surgery Due To Severe Pneumonia

Former “Saturday Night Live” star Chris Kattan is in the hospital with a severe case of pneumonia that reportedly required emergency surgery.

Sources close to the situation reported that Kattan was rushed to the hospital Sunday after contracting an extreme case of pneumonia called Streptococcus Pneumoniae, according to TMZ. Doctors then operated on Kattan in an emergency procedure, the outlet reported.

Kattan’s surgery was successful and he has remained under observation at the hospital, TMZ continued. Doctors are hopeful his recovery will go well, and he could be released by Friday, according to the outlet.

Kattan’s girlfriend, Maria Libri, posted a message to Instagram updating fans on his condition. “This sweet, sweet man of mine is on the road to recovery, after a severe pneumonia scare ❤️❤️❤️ He is always taking care of us, now it’s our turn to take care of him💞❤️” she wrote.

Kattan previously had a show scheduled for Friday in Valparaiso, Indiana, but that has since been postponed, according to TMZ. The show is reportedly being rescheduled.

Upcoming tour dates are likely to be affected, the outlet continued.
