We’re about to get some views of Jordan Walker (again).

MLB Pipeline has Jordan Walker listed as the No. 1 overall prospect in all of Major League Baseball, and the St. Louis Cardinals are reportedly calling him up to the show, according to the Belleville News-Democrat’s Jeff Jones. The Cards will have Walker on their active roster Friday in their game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

This will actually be Walker’s second run with the Cardinals, making St. Louis‘ Opening Day roster this season. However, he was sent back down to the minor leagues in late April. Offensively, Walker wasn’t bad, hitting .274/.321/.397 with two home runs and 11 RBIs in 78 appearances at the plate, but on the defensive side as an outfielder, Walker struggled.

I’m happy to see Jordan Walker getting called back up to the majors.

I know it was a disappointing start to his MLB career earlier in the campaign, but I think it’s just a matter of getting his sea legs and getting used to the pace of professional baseball. He’ll be fine.

You gotta remember, this kid is 6-foot 6 and 245 pounds, and when it comes to his skills at the plate, he’s a rarity. Not many players his size have the bat-to-ball skills that he does, and on top of that, he’s got power to slam home runs. And if he can get his defensive presence up, he has a grade A arm that he can use at his disposal. Give this kid some time, and he’ll be elite.
