A three-year-old child allegedly fatally struck a two-year-old girl with a truck Saturday in California, police said in a Facebook post.

The three-year-old child was left alone in a truck at a gas station and then climbed into the driver’s seat, according to the Woodland Police Department (WPD). The three-year-old was reportedly initially seated in a car seat. The driver went into the gas station store, and while he was inside, the child got out of the car seat and climbed into the driver’s seat, WPD said.

“The truck began moving forward and it collided with a two-year-old child who was near a taco stand on the edge of the lot,” WPD said.

The victim was 2-year-old Ailahni Sanchez Martinez, according to KCRA 3. She was reportedly rushed to the hospital but later died. Ailahni’s parents told KCRA they were setting up their taco stand when the truck began moving toward her. (RELATED: 1-Year-Old Girl Killed After Mom Allegedly Runs Her Over Accidentally)

“He left the vehicle running and with a child inside. What happened is not right. We want justice,” Sandro Sanchez, Ailahni’s father, told KCRA 3. “I lost my daughter because of someone else.”

Following the incident, authorities have not made any arrests.

“Everyone involved has cooperated in this investigation. An arrest has not been made. We are working to ensure a thorough investigation is completed,” WPD said. “This includes taking statements, analyzing evidence, reviewing video surveillance footage, creating scene diagrams, and completing investigative reports. We ask for the community’s patience while this occurs. The completed investigation will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.”
