HBO just dropped the new trailer for the second season of the “Game of Thrones” spinoff “House of the Dragon” and boy does it look good.

“There are two sides to every story,” the show’s star, Emma D’Arcy says to open the trailer.

“Watch both, and choose a side,” her co-star Tom Glynn-Carney follows.

The 96-second trailer then takes us on a journey through the power struggle between rival family members and warring clans reminiscent of the original “Game of Thrones” epic that made us all fall in love with the world of Westeros.

The second season, which comes out on June 16 according to the trailer, looks to be a significantly more action-packed interlude than the show’s debut season. (RELATED: WINTER IS BACK: ‘House Of The Dragon’ Shows Staying Power)

I’m not going to lie, I found the first season pretty boring. As a man, I don’t find female protagonists compelling simply because they’re female protagonists. I need a little more than the lazy “wah I’m a woman and I always get overlooked because I’m a woman” narrative. That and the show’s slow pacing just weren’t my cup of tea. Sorry. Nothing wrong with you if you like that stuff but I just don’t relate.

But, as I wasn’t a fan of the original show until it picked up a bit in later seasons, I’ve decided to give “House of the Dragon” the benefit of the doubt.

If the trailer can be trusted, the pace seems like it will pick up a bit in the show’s second go. One of the first season’s bright spots for me, Matt Smith’s portrayal of Daemon Targaryen, looks like it will get some more burn going forward. Hopefully the show can take the whiny female protagonist trope and develop it D’Arcy’s Rhaenyra Targaryen into a character who is more compelling than your average woman who gets passed over for a power position. Let’s face it, there’s nothing unique about that story.

And, if not… well there’s still dragons.
