Legendary country singer George Strait made history by playing to a record-breaking number of fans at his concert at Kyle Field in College Station on Saturday.

The iconic star belted out the tunes to a total of 110,905 fans, setting the U.S. record and making history for the most tickets sold during a concert, according to USA Today. Strait takes the baton from The Grateful Dead, who set the previous record with their 1997 concert at Raceway Park in New Jersey. His concert also broke the record for the most attended single event ever held at Kyle Field, beating out the Aggies football team, which is no easy task.

“We got some Aggies out there? Oh yeah!” Strait said to the large crowd, according to Chron.

The crowd cheered with his reference of the Texas A&M University team.

“I’m ashamed to say this, but this is my first time to ever be in Kyle Field. Damn! Just invite me back!” Strait said.

The record number of tickets sold for a football game was set Oct. 11, 2014, with 110,663 fans in attendance for a Texas A&M game against SEC West rival Ole Miss, according to USA Today.

Saturday’s game set record for attendance and also included some high-profile guests, including the new Texas A&M football coach Mike Elko and Sen. Ted Cruz.
