The CMA Awards didn’t put up incredibly impressive ratings Wednesday night on ABC.

According to ShowBuzzDaily.com, the Country Music Awards show peaked with an average of 7.379 million viewers on ABC in the early numbers. (REVIEW: ‘Westworld’ Season 3 Ends With The Possible Deaths Of Multiple Characters)

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the CMA Awards averaged 11.27 million viewers in 2019, which means the 2020 show suffered a massive drop if the final numbers don’t see a substantial boost.

To say things won’t have gone well Wednesday night if the numbers hold would be a huge understatement.

I’m a little surprised that the numbers were what they were for the 2020 CMA Awards. Country music isn’t known for being ultra-political and it’s not known for lecturing the audience.

Most awards shows have become an excuse for millionaires to lecture middle America on how everyday people are ruining the country with their beliefs.

The CMA Awards aren’t like that at all, and the numbers still weren’t great.

You almost have to wonder if people have just given up on award shows. You certainly couldn’t blame them if that was the case. Like I said, they’ve become nothing but dumb lectures, and people don’t want to hear it.
