14 million people reportedly tuned in to watch Alex Trebek’s final episode of “Jeopardy!”

The final week of Trebek’s reign was the most watched and highest rated of the show since the week of April 27, 2020, Deadline reported Wednesday. The final episode specifically scored a 8.1 rating and drew in 14 million people, according to the outlet. The rating measurement represents the percentage of a base population watching a TV program.

The final episode, which aired Jan. 8, received the highest rating and highest audience for the show since June 3, 2019, according to Deadline. That day the show aired the final episode of contestant James Holzhauer’s insane win streak. (RELATED: ‘Jeopardy!’ Producer Says Alex Trebek Was In ‘Enormous Pain’ While Filming Final Episodes)

I’m not surprised that a ton of people tuned in to watch Trebek’s last show. The face that he filmed up until he passed away is wild to me. Trebek truly was an amazing and hard-working person.

I don’t think we’re going to be able to find someone who adequately replaces him.

Trebek passed away on Nov. 8 after battling pancreatic cancer for almost two years. Only 18% of people diagnosed with pancreatic cancer survive for longer than a year after diagnosis, Trebek previously revealed.

Only 7% of people survive two years of the disease.
