Kirk Herbstreit still has symptoms from coronavirus several months after catching the virus.

The ESPN superstar tweeted Monday morning that he still has no sense of smell or taste five months after contracting the virus. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

He wrote in part, “Haven’t tasted a meal since late December. After 5 months…is this my new normal or will taste and smell come back???”

As many wins as we’ve had over the coronavirus pandemic since the vaccine really kicked into overdrive, this tweet is a blunt reminder that the virus isn’t a joke.

Not only is the virus not a joke, but it’s very real. I actually know someone who had the virus about six months ago, and last I heard, he was in the same boat as Herbstreit.

It’s crazy to think about catching a virus and then not being able to taste food for several months with no end in sight.

If that’s not a bit scary, then I don’t know what is.

Hopefully, Herbstreit is able to make a 100% return to normal. Not being able to taste food would be the absolute worst.
