Jordan Erickson, 22, died from a fentanyl overdose after taking a pill he thought was OxyContin for a knee injury that he suffered during a workout at a local gym in Palmdale, California. Jordan’s mother Brandi Erickson found his body in his bedroom the day after taking the fentanyl-laced pill.

Jordan was given the pill by another local in the gym and was told it was an OxyContin to help with the pain to his knee, according to Brandi. Authorities have yet to make an arrest in connection to Jordan’s overdose death. Americans across the country are dying from counterfeit pills made to look identical to legitimate painkillers like Vicodin or OxyContin.
