Legendary Mississippi State University football coach Mike Leach died Tuesday at the age of 61. Not only was he one of the greatest coaches of all time, but he was also one of the best human beings to grace God’s land.

As a woman and legal resident alien, I know almost nothing about football as a sport or as a staple factor within American culture. That didn’t stop Mike Leach from being one of the best, most inspiring parts of my day. I was first introduced to Leach and his beautiful mind after a video of him giving what is arguably the best wedding advice went viral a few years ago.

In just a few short minutes, Leach says what all men have been too scared to say for millennia, but does it so kindly and matter-of-factly that no one, not even us females, can argue with his statements.

“When it comes to marriages, the women lose their mind,” Leach told one young man who was just nine or ten days out from his nuptials. “Your fiancée’s going to lose their mind. Your mother-in-law is going to lose her mind. Your mom is going to lose her mind, several of your sisters, and female relatives are gonna lose their mind.” (RELATED: Mike Leach Once Again Proves He’s A National Treasure. Gives Interview Wearing Fake Mustache)

You can watch the full advice here, and if you’re not laughing by the end of it, there is something fundamentally wrong with you.

If you’re anything like me, and just want to sit around watching old videos or reading hilarious stories and commentary from Leach today, I highly recommend this one of him bellyflopping into a pool.

One of my favorite moments was when he randomly tweeted a photograph of bigfoot and provided absolutely zero context. I also found common ground with Leach when he said he loves cargo shorts because you can fit a sandwich in them. While I might not personally wear cargo shorts, all the shorts I do wear have pockets big enough for a sandwich (and a beer).

God put Mike Leach on this planet to show how easy it is to share love, fairness, irreverence, and to not take anything one does too seriously. He will be eternally missed and forever remembered.
