California police released video footage showing the moment Compton police fatally shot a hatchet-wielding man in November.

The incident unfolded Nov. 3 around 12:13 p.m., when deputies received a call about a man wielding an axe.

“There’s this guy with an axe trying to walk into [business name retracted] and he’s acting like he’s going to hit somebody with it,” the caller said. “He’s swinging it, like he wants to hit somebody with it.”

Subsequent calls indicated that 46-year-old Ramiro Lozano was walking around local businesses with an axe in his hand.

Authorities finally tracked down Lozano running near a business with what was later determined to be a hatchet. One of the officers asked Lozano to stop but Lozano did not comply. (RELATED: ‘I’ll Kill You’: Video Shows Off-Duty Chicago Cop Fatally Shooting Man Who Reached For Her Gun)

Bodycam footage of the incident shows one officer arriving on scene shouting “hey, stop, stop, I’m gonna shoot you!”

The officer is then heard shouting “stop right there!”

Lozano is then seen running away from police before the officer fires several rapid shots, fatally striking him.

Police said Lozano “sustained gunshot wounds to his torso.”

“Deputies rendered first aid to Lozano until the arrival of the Los Angeles County Fire Department Paramedics. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.”

The incident remains under investigation.
