I am absolutely loving this pitch clock.

The Miami Marlins squared off against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night, with the Fish grabbing a 1-0 victory. The kicker? They only needed one hour and 57 minutes to do it thanks to Sandy Alcántara’s incredible pitching display.

Miami‘s sole run to win the game came from an Avisail Garcia home run in the second inning.

Alcántara was straight fire throughout the contest, only giving up three hits in nine innings for a complete game.

The heat from Alcántara led to one of the fastest games ever in the history of Major League Baseball, and it’s the quickest so far this season. Up until the Marlins-Twins game, the fastest in the current campaign was a two hour and four minute contest between the Cleveland Guardians and Seattle Mariners.

And speaking of the Mariners, they still hold the record along with the Chicago White Sox for the shortest game in MLB history, which went for a total of one hour and 39 minutes. As you see, the Marlins-Twins game was just minutes away from that record, so we’re totally looking at a situation where that record is eventually going to get broken this season. The era of the pitch clock, baby.
