This is just absolutely incredible.

The Tampa Bay Rays squared off Thursday afternoon against the Boston Red Sox. In the fifth inning of the game, Tampa found themselves in a position they’re not used to: They were on the losing side of things.

Already losing starting pitcher Jeffrey Springs because of a nerve injury and down 2-0 to the Sox, Tampa didn’t panic.

Going through eleven hitters in their lineup, the Rays managed to put up seven runs on the board for the rally. And from there, they sailed easily to an undefeated 13-0 record.

The start is historic, with the Rays tying the 1982 Atlanta Braves and 1987 Milwaukee Brewers for the best start to a season in the modern era of MLB. The only other team to win more than 13 games in a row to begin a campaign were the 1884 St. Louis Maroons, who kicked off their season 20-0 before finally suffering defeat.

On top of that, the record for the longest overall winning streak in the history of the Tampa Bay Rays franchise now belongs to the 2023 team, with Thursday’s win clinching both a four-game sweep over the Red Sox and breaking a tie with the 2004 Devil Rays, who won 12 straight games that season.

This is insane what the Tampa Bay Rays are doing. As a Florida boy, I’m all for it! (RELATED: Some Loser Attacked Colorado Rockies Mascot Dinger During Game Against St. Louis Cardinals)
