Nike’s hurting … that’s what’s going on here.

Tiger Woods and Nike announced Monday that their legendary partnership of 27 years has come to an end, finishing one of the most iconic brand deals in all of sports history.

The relationship between the elite parties started back in 1996 when Tiger turned pro, and he’s been decked out in Nike swooshes ever since. During his run with the company, Woods racked up 15 major championships, 82 PGA Tour victories and several comebacks after injuries and other setbacks. For over 25 years, Woods‘ signature red Nike polo, black pants and black hat to top it off was the poster wardrobe of professional golf.

Woods said in a statement posted to Twitter that there would be “another chapter,” however, he didn’t clarify what exactly that meant nor did he mention what brand’s apparel he plans on wearing next. Since coming back from a car wreck-related injury that happened in 2021, Tiger’s been wearing Footjoy golf shoes.

Truly a historic duo. Peep Joe Pompliano’s tweet that really puts it into perspective.

I think we all know what’s going on here.

Nike announced in December that it had plans over the next three years to slash $2 billion in total costs, which will also feature hundreds of employees being laid off. It appears that Tigers Woods is one of those employees.

Go buy a pair of Air Force Ones, ladies and gentlemen, because Nike is obviously in dire need.
