Talk about a close call!

We nearly had outright chaos Tuesday at American Family Field during a game between the Milwaukee Brewers and Minnesota Twins, and why is that?

Because we nearly had a Major League Baseball player get absolutely blasted by a giant sausage … yes, a giant sausage.

If you’re a fan of baseball, then you’re most likely aware of the sausage race that the Brewers hold. It’s an absolute tradition in Milwaukee. You’ve seen the presidents racing each other at Washington Nationals games in between the innings, but in Wisconsin, things are done a little differently: They race gargantuan sausages. And holy hell, what a sight it is. (RELATED: Straight Comedy: Even Mets Play-By-Play Announcer Gary Cohen Is Tired Of New York’s Dysfunctional Ways)

The Brew Crew started their campaign against the Mets in New York, so their home opener didn’t come until Tuesday when they took on the Twins.

In other words, it was the first official day of the 2024 sausage races, and that nearly brought us a “bratwursted” Byron Buxton (Minnesota’s center fielder).

Buxton was casually walking on the field, completely clueless to the fact that he was about to get steamrolled by a nine-foot-tall sausage that was zooming right at him.

So great … stuff like this is why I love baseball so much.

It’s not just the game itself that can make the game romantic. It’s also corny moments like this (a good kind of corny). And then you have the business side as well.

I love you baseball, how I’ve missed you.
