The Miami Heat’s season is essentially over.

Jimmy Butler, the superstar forward for the Miami Heat, has suffered an MCL injury (right knee) and it is expected that he will be out for several weeks, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

More clarity will be given on Butler’s injury when he undergoes an MRI that’s set for Thursday. (RELATED: USA Basketball Drops Hype Video For 2024 Paris Olympics …Be Prepared To Get Gold Medal-Winning Chills)

During the first quarter of the No. 7 vs. No. 8 Eastern Conference Play-In game between the Heat and Philadelphia 76ers, Butler went down with the injury, ultimately leading to Miami taking the 105-104 defeat Wednesday to the Sixers. With seconds left on the clock, he suffered the injury when Kelly Oubre Jr. fell on him around the basket after a fake pump. And as you’ll see in the video, Heat coaches and staffers knew immediately that it was bad.

Despite the injury, however, Butler stayed in the contest, but his game was flat in the shooting department — he finished with a stat line of 19 points (5-for-18 shooting), five assists and five steals.

This is absolutely devastating to the Heat, who play the Chicago Bulls this Friday for the No. 8 seed and in a contest that could see their season come to an end if they lose.
