It doesn’t sound like Darius Slay will miss playing for Detroit Lions head coach Matt Patricia.
Slay was shipped to the Philadelphia Eagles last week in exchange for some draft picks, and he didn’t hold back with his feelings on Patricia following the trade. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
According to The New York Post, Slay said during a WJR radio interview, “Shoot, I didn’t have that much respect for Matty P as a person. It was hard for me to play for him.”
Slay told the Detroit Free Press he lost his respect for Patricia back in 2018 when the head coach of the Lions lit him up for posting a photo on social media with a receiver.

“He told me in front of the whole team, in the team meeting room, showed clips of me in practice getting a ball caught on me or so in practice. I posted a picture (of a wide receiver on social media), and he told me, stop sucking this man’s private,” Slay explained to the Detroit Free Press.
It’s truly amazing how bad Matt Patricia’s time in Detroit has gone, and now one of the best players he ever had is just shredding him.

I think it’s safe to say Slay wanted to get the hell out of Detroit and far away from Patricia. Here’s the reality of the situation when it comes to sports.
The amount of a jerk you are is directly tied to how much you win. If you win Super Bowls, then players will tolerate a lot more.

If you lose a lot, then there’s very little room for that kind of nonsense. The Lions have been trash under Patricia, which means he’s in the latter group and not the first.
When you have star players like Darius Slay just publicly ripping him, then you know things are bad. Patricia better hope he wins a lot in 2020 or he’s likely going to be looking for a new job.
