Two Young Indiana State Football Players Killed In Tragic Car Accident

Caleb VanHooser and Christian Eubanks died in a car crash near Terre Haute in Riley, Indiana Sunday morning. The young men played for the Indiana State University football team.

The Vigo County Sheriff’s Office named of the third victim of this fiery crash as being Jayden Musili, 19, of Fort Wayne, according to WTHR. The collision occurred at 1:30 am on State Road 46 and Main Street, roughly 10 miles from the ISU campus.

“Our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go out to the families and all who were involved in this tragic accident!” the Indiana State Football team said in a tweet.

“There are no words to express the depth of our sadness about this tragedy,” ISU President Dr. Deborah J. Curtis, said, according to TMZ. “We send our condolences to the family and friends of the students involved. The Sycamore family is mourning and will support each other in this time of grief,” Curtis wrote.

Investigators have revealed that the vehicle was carrying five occupants including the driver. They believe the car suddenly veered off the road before striking a tree, according to WTHR. The impact caused a vehicle fire, and trapped all five people inside. The Indiana State University confirmed that 20-year-old Omarion Dixon from Lafayette; and 19-year-old John Moore from Wheaton, Illinois, were also injured in the crash. VanHooser’s former school, Lakota East High School, confirmed the news of his passing. “It is with heavy heart that we mourn the loss of Caleb VanHooser, former Hawk great, and Indiana State football player who was called home to Heaven early this morning,” they wrote, according to TMZ.

“We will never forget his contributions to our program. RIP #2. We love you,” they wrote.
