Well, this is awkward.

Dillon Johnson, the now-former running back for the Mississippi State University Bulldogs, made an official announcement Dec. 7 that he will be entering the transfer portal, and he also took some jabs at head coach Mike Leach in the process.

Johnson thanked God, family and friends for showing support in his statement he posted on Twitter. He also gave credit to Mississippi State players, trainers and fans for helping him improve his skills and build up character.

Then, Johnson’s statement went sideways:

“With that being said, since I am not very tough, and Leach is glad I am leaving, I will be entering my name into the transfer portal with the hopes of finding a more fit playing environment for me,” Johnson wrote.

Why does everything connected to Mike Leach have to be so golden in terms of content?

See, I want to kind of feel bad for this kid because you know something happened that killed his confidence, but Mike Leach is so hilarious that you can’t help but to just chop this up as another funny episode of Leach’s career. Leach is a very blunt speaker, so you can be 99.9% — no, 110% sure — that Leach said something (or multiple things) to Johnson to get him down in the dumps like this. The problem for us college football fans is that we know Leach and we know how hilarious he can be with his bluntness, which makes it hard to ultimately feel bad for Johnson.

I mean, come on, check out the comedy:

I wish you well, Dillon Johnson, but I’m riding with the legendary Mike Leach.
