What exactly is Ja Morant doing wrong?

If you didn’t see over the weekend, Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant was suspended by the team after an Instagram Live video started circulating online Saturday night of him holding a handgun while driving and singing along with rap music. Hosted on Morant’s friend Davonte Pack’s account, the video was later deleted.

It’s pending a league review, but Memphis announced Sunday that it’s hitting Morant with a suspension over the video — this just a couple of months after the NBA suspended Morant over a first gun video. The team did not make further comment after their statement.

“We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are in the process of gathering more information,” said NBA spokesperson Mike Bass in a statement Sunday from the league.

Here’s the video if you missed it:

You know, I agree with the criticism on Ja Morant about how he could conduct himself better and could surround himself with better people, but I’ve never understood the criticism on Morant for showing off his guns.

Yeah, you could make the argument that it’s immature how he does it, but even then … why can’t it just be viewed as regular ol’ fun? What exactly is Morant doing in these videos that can be considered “wrong”?

As far as I’m concerned, Morant isn’t doing anything but hanging out with friends, listening to rap music (which I happen to be a fan of, so I get the culture), and just happened to be showing off a gun. I personally don’t see anything wrong here, and to be even more quite frank, Morant isn’t doing anything but being pure America just having a good time and expressing his 2nd Amendment rights. Think about it … that’s literally all he’s doing.

From where I’m sitting, Ja Morant is one of the most American people out here. Plus, who doesn’t like to show off a new gun on social media when they get one (I know I do)? (RELATED: Video Shows Youth Baseball Coach Tackling Umpire In Outright Wild Scene)

People need to lay off Ja. Like I said earlier, there’s criticism that can be made about certain things that have been done in the past, but with showing off his guns in particular … hey, as long as he’s safe and not hurting anybody, he’s not doing anything but enjoying his United States citizenship and expressing his 2nd Amendment right.

Ja Morant is simply being an American and getting punished for it. That needs to stop immediately.
