Democratic Connecticut Rep. Jim Himes repeated the false claim there is “no evidence” of President Joe Biden’s involvement with his son Hunter’s overseas business dealings during a Wednesday appearance on “Morning Joe,” and received zero pushback from the hosts.

Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced that the House GOP would move forward with an impeachment inquiry into Biden. The inquiry is designed to probe whether Biden was involved in influence peddling with his son Hunter’s foreign business partners.

Co-host Jonathan Lemiere asked Himes what Democrats would do to stand up for Biden amid the impeachment inquiry.

“The good news is, and we’ve seen this this entire Congress, the facts and truth are on our side. Every week, some combination of [Republican Ohio Rep.] Jim Jordan or [House Oversight Committee] Chairman [Jamie] Comer offers up sensational Fox News bait that ‘This is the week we find the witness that shows Joe Biden is, in fact, the head of a mafia corrupt crime family,’ and it never turns out to be true. Ever, ever!” Himes argued. (RELATED: Here Are All The Questions Congress Must Ask Merrick Garland About The Hunter Biden Case)

“Their witnesses come out and say, ‘No, Joe Biden didn’t know anything at all about his son’s business. Yeah, he made the occasional phone call to say hello or whatever,’ but the point is that they build up expectations with these spectacular dangled promises and they always fail. So you know what? The impeachment inquiry is gonna do exactly the same thing,” he continued. “I’ve seen a couple of impeachment inquiries. When Trump was first impeached, there was the transcript of a phone call to the Ukrainian president saying, ‘If you don’t give me dirt on Joe Biden, I’m not giving you foreign aid.’ You can argue about whether that’s impeachable, but it is evidence. McCarthy for the first time has started an inquiry with precisely zero evidence.”

No one pushed back on this claim despite there being ample evidence linking Biden to his son’s business dealings.

Hunter’s business associate Devon Archer told the House Oversight Committee in July that Biden spoke with Hunter’s business associates more than 20 times and that Biden had a meeting in Beijing with a Chinese business associate of Hunter’s whose daughter later received a college recommendation letter from Joe Biden, who was then vice president.

Biden also admitted he had Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin fired despite Shokin making progress on Ukraine’s anti-corruption goals before he was fired. Shokin was investigating Burisma, the company of which Hunter sat on the board. Mykola Zlochevsky later claimed he sent Biden $5 million to get Shokin fired, according to a confidential human source that made the allegations in an FBI FD-1023 form.

Another former business associate, Rob Walker, told Congress that Biden met with officials from CEFC China Energy in 2017, with IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley later confirming the alleged meeting. Hunter was doing business with the Chinese energy company at the time.
