Legendary sportscaster Bob Costas reportedly saved someone’s life by performing the Heimlich maneuver.

Early reports of the incident indicate Costas was recently eating a restaurant when a diner that was not seated with him began to choke. Costas reportedly sprung into action when he realized the patron was choking, and immediately began performing the Heimlich maneuver. His quick thinking and skilled technique ultimately ended up saving the person’s life, Page Six reported Tuesday.

The 71-year-old sports commentator reportedly remained very humble after becoming a real-life hero in this emergency situation, per the outlet.

“Bob doesn’t think this was that big of a deal,” the source said, according to Page Six. “He really feels he did what just about anyone else would do in a similar situation.”

The identity of the person who nearly died is not yet known, and details surrounding the incident, including the age and gender of the individual and what he or she choked on, have not been publicly shared. It is not immediately clear whether if the patron required any medical attention after the choking incident.
