Philadelphia 76ers guard Kelly Oubre Jr. reportedly crashed his Lamborghini just hours after the team’s 104-101 defeat to the New York Knicks in the 2024 NBA playoffs.

The Philadelphia Police Department said the accident occurred at 1:45 am Tuesday after Oubre “disregarded a red traffic signal,” and struck another vehicle, according to TMZ. There were no reports of injuries to either party involved in the collision. Earlier that evening, Oubre and the Sixers fell in the final 20 seconds of Game 2, at Madison Square Garden, when Knicks guard Donte DiVincenzo drilled a three-pointer that gave The Knicks a 2-0 series lead, according to CBS Sports.

Initial reports indicate Oubre was driving his beloved 2021 matte purple Lamborghini and proceeded to strike a 2023 Hyundai Elantra. Both vehicles sustained damage in the collision, and a tow truck was required to remove them from the scene, according to TMZ.

It is not clear if either of the vehicles were carrying passengers at the time of the crash.

The famous athlete had previously spoken about how much he enjoys his Lamborghini, and featured the luxury sports car in a photoshoot for Intersection Magazine.

“Once I got my driver’s license, I was much more interested in cars than the ability to drive,” Oubre said during the 2022 interview.

“So I’ve been a car nut my whole life. I’ve always felt pretty comfortable in nice cars.”

The Philadelphia 76ers are aware Oubre was involved in a car accident, but have not issued a public comment at this time. Sources close to the situation have confirmed Oubre is expected to remain in the lineup and will continue to play with his team despite the collision, according to TMZ.
