Fans reportedly became concerned for Britney Spears’ well-being after the star abruptly disappeared from Instagram, so they phoned police to her home for a welfare check.

Fans reportedly called in the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office to check on Spears’ well-being. They believed something was very wrong with the pop star, according to TMZ, because Spears had deleted her Instagram account approximately 12 hours before. Although she has done this several times in the past, her behavior leading up to her social media disappearance left them fearing she might be in danger, according to TMZ.

Deputies from the sheriff’s office reportedly arrived at Spears’ residence and determined there was no reason to fear for her well-being, according to TMZ.

It was not immediately made clear if the police spoke to Spears directly, or if someone at her residence provided the necessary reassurances for them to depart the property. (RELATED: REPORT: Police Called To Assist Britney Spears When She Ran Out Of Gas On Highway)

The welfare check follows a series of bizarre occurrences involving the star. Spears was video-taped acting strangely in a restaurant in January, and was described as being “manic” while entangled in a dispute with her husband, Sam Asghari.  Spears also recently changed the name on her Instagram account to “River Red” and posted a video that announced the name change. “Don’t underestimate the power of purity,” she said in the now-deleted post.

Spears also stunned fans with a video of herself getting tattooed on camera.

Her Instagram account remains deleted at this time.
